This tape prevents stainless steel fittings galling or seizing during assembly and disassembly. With the tape impregnated with nickel powder, it acts like bearing plates, which keep the surface of the male and female threads apart. The thickness of the tape provides even further protection due to its denser than average composition to ensure an effective seal. More benefits include no curing time, non-flammable, and has an unlimited shelf life.Unasco Stainless Steel Thread Sealing Tape is recommended for stainless steel pipe and fittings but it is compatible with the following piping materials:• Galvanized Steel- Iron- Brass- Copper- Aluminum- Fiberglass- Polyethylene- Polypropylene- PVC- CPVC- ABS Application InstructionsFittings up to 1-1/2 inch / 38mm diameter• Use 1/2 inch / 12mm wide tape.- Clean the male and female threads thoroughly.- Wrap the tape around the male thread. Take care to keep the tape under tension as you are wrapping so the tape moulds itself into the root of the thread.- Make sure that you wrap with the thread.- Make sure that the tape does not overlap the end of the fitting.- Three wraps seal most threads. For poor quality or damaged threads or threads that are hard to seal like parallel threads or threads on fittings subject to vibration, more than three wraps may be necessary.
