The Hornby Hobbies range can be traced its roots back to 1908 when legendary toy maker Frank Hornby launched his new construction toy business Meccano. This revolution in toys allowed budding constructors to use a range of metal components to assemble buildings, structures, vehicles, and much more from a standard range of parts. However, Meccano was just the start of 1863 - born Hornby. Twelve years later he wowed the British market with the Hornby clockwork railway system and persisted still further by launching the Dinky Toys range in 1934. Together the three brands made Frank Hornby a millionaire in mid - 1930 as his empire of toy production continued to grow and prosper.
